Introduction

Welcome!

I am interested in the nature, pace and complexity of global change and developing investment themes around such perceived changes. I am pursuing my investment interests in two ways. 

I am sitting for the CFA Level 2 exam in June 2011. 

I am also studying towards a Masters Degree in Futures Studies from the University of Stellenbosch. The degree examines: 

- the nature, pace and complexity of global change; 
- an understanding of the forces that shape the future; 

- the systemic approach to managing strategies so as to create a desired future.  

I am therefore attempting to integrate a broad view of future trends with the fundamentals of investment.

This blog will use a case study approach to integrate my studies towards a Masters Degree with the CFA level 2 curriculum. My case study will focus on the Mining Industry & BHP Billiton. 

Any analysis is based on publically available information and is my personal opinion. I hold shares in BHP.
